What is isotretinoin

Isotretinoin is an effective medication for severe acne when other treatments such as antibiotics have not demonstrated their effectiveness, but it is associated with several side effects (teratogenic risks in the case of pregnancy and psychiatric), hence it should be used under close medical supervision.

Roaccutane Isotretinoin side effects

Many more or less rare side effects can occur. The prescribing physician must inform the patient of the potential risks. The most common side effects are dryness of the skin and mucous membranes, and increased sensitivity to the sun.

May also manifest: ocular irritation and/or dryness, blepharitis or conjunctivitis, headache and in rare cases mood disorders (depression or worsening of depression, aggressiveness, anxiety).

Changes in blood balance may be observed as an increase in blood sugar, triglycerides and cholesterol in genetic predisposition and rarely an increase in transaminases.

Roaccutane | Contraindication

Never use Roaccutane:

  • If you are allergic to isotretinoin or any of the other ingredients of this medication.
  • If you are pregnant.
  • If you are planning a pregnancy.
